My first steps in handbag sewing

My father's family is composed of outstanding seamstresses. During my school vacations, I was curious and enjoyed going to see my aunts and uncles in their sewing workshops to watch what they do and how they do it. I was introduced to sewing, taught how to hem by hand, how to thread a sewing machine. So I naturally fell into this world.

I am a perfect self-taught, I like to learn things by myself, so I applied myself to learn little by little to sew sheets, curtains, tablecloths and the first little changing bag when I was pregnant with my son (it was to put his little things in 😊)

My previous job allowed me to travel frequently and visit many countries, I have a curious nature, I like beautiful things especially when they are "handmade". During my travels, I like to look at people around me, discreetly observing their travel bags, their toiletry bags, their handbags. In trains, on planes, in hotels, it's one of my favorite pastimes watching people's belongings. In fact, I really have a penchant for pretty accessories such as wallets, purses, original bags such as pretty shoulder straps (by deduction, one can easily imagine that I have a lot of bags at home but that's another story )

With the craze around the Do It Yourself concept, it's not very surprising that I got sucked into the adventure and that's how in 2018, I started by creating a few items putting all my creative ability, the energy of my passion, my attention to detail. My friends, my colleagues, my family were my first users. Their encouragement, their support, the feedback from the first " real customers " are one of the decisive factors that encouraged me to open SARACREA.
